Footprints
I read the following poem for the first time on
a postcard in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It touched my heart so deeply that I bought
the postcard and from then on, have loved the poem. It means so much to
me because it has made me think more about God and Christianity. It has
also made me feel safer during rough times. If yo haven't read it yet, I
hope it will takes place in your heart as it did in mine.
One night a man
had a dream
He dreamed he
was walking along the beach with the Lord
Across the sky
scenes flashed from his life.
For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging
to him and one belonging to the Lord.
When the last
scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back
at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that
many times along the path of his life
there was only
one set of footprints.
He also noticed
that it happened at the lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered
him and he questioned the Lord about it:
"Lord, you
said that once I decided to follow you,
yo'd walk with
me all the way.
But I noticed
that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only
one set of footprints.
I don't understand
why when I need you the most you would leave me."
The Lord replied:
"My son,
My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times
of trial and suffering,
when you see
only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

This poem, too, has significant meaning. It was
written on a Hallmark card given to me by my closest friend, Debra. It means
so much to me because it deals with taking care of the environment. I hope
you like it.
MAY THE FOOTPRINTS
WE LEAVE BEHIND
SHOW THAT WE'VE
WALKED IN KINDNESS
TOWARD THE EARTH
AND EVERY
LIVING THING.

something. Don't walk in other people's footprints,
make your own.
